What we teach

At Gather, we share embodied movement and breath practices in a calm, safe and inclusive space. Our timetable offers classes that are suitable for people of different ages, shapes, abilities and interests. Our teachers will support you to practice in harmony with how you feel from moment to moment and day to day.

Please contact us if you would like some guidance as to what might be the most suitable class for you.

These practices promote vibrancy and clarity, and help to regulate our nervous systems.
Suitable for all levels of experience.

Flow through a dynamic series of postures that balance strength and flexibility preparing the body for a seated breath work and meditation practice.

Slow Flow Yoga

Slow Flow is a Vinyasa class that is light and creative but slower paced and gentler than open Vinyasa classes. Postures are generally held for longer periods and the transitions between poses are a little slower and easier to access, with modifications offered from more traditional Vinyasa sequencing.

The more gentle nature of this class is great for beginners and anyone who needs to modify for reduced mobility. A beautiful option for experienced students who enjoy a slow grounded practice.

60 mins

Yin Yoga

A nourishing class, incorporating yin-based sequences, gentle movement, myofascial release, long holds, pranayama and a couple of sweet restorative poses. Designed to stimulate and release the deeper tissues and fascia of the body.

Classes may explore organs and elements as they relate to Traditional Chinese Medicine and the effect of a slow, soft yin practice.

The more gentle nature of this class is great for beginners and it is also wonderful for experienced students who enjoy a deeply relaxing class and reset for the nervous system.

60 mins

Restorative Yoga

A gentle practice dedicated to constructive rest that emphasises ‘being’ rather than ‘doing’. Restorative practice makes extensive use of yoga props to create a fully-supported practice that allows students to mindfully rest deeply into the restorative postures. Classes include passive poses, supported inversions and guided mindful relaxation (Yoga Nidra).

This class is suited to anyone who desires a restorative practice. It is taught by a trauma-informed facilitator sensitive to the importance of creating a safe space for those who have experienced trauma.

“True yoga is not about the shape of your body, but the shape of your life. Yoga is not to be performed; yoga is to be lived. Yoga doesn’t care about what you have been; yoga cares about the person you are becoming. Yoga is designed for a vast and profound purpose, and for it to be truly called yoga, its essence must be embodied.”
